Our goal at the Samoa Culture Centre is to focusĀ on traditional Samoan skills like the weaving of mats and baskets; building a fale, canoes and other traditional handicrafts; singing songs and dancing, growing our own vegetables, and providing traditional wedding ceremonies. Wednesday Weekly Activities for Tourists

10am:   Ava ceremony (20mins)

Earth oven: Using two sticks to start fire.............. Scraping coconuts and ofu palusami-taro leaves wrapped in coconut cream. Scraping talo/faausi-prepared from cooked scraped taro marinated in caramel. Mulu le puaa-roast pork preparation. Let the food steamed cook in the oven (40mins)

Faapa'u le koko Samoa - roasting cocoa beans for cocoa or chocolate drinks

Climbing coconut tree(s)/husking........ (20mins)

Weaving baskets/blinds/floor coverings and more using coconut leaves......(20mins)

Fu'e le umu-unearthed the oven and food is ready for tasting....(continue the weaving activity during lunch)

12noon - 1pm (lunch)

1pm: Carving traditional canoes and handicrafts........(20mins)

Siapo making..........(30mins)

Building traditional houses.........

Taalolo and Fiafia (finale)

2pm: End of program. Thank you and Goodbye - Faafetai lava Tofa Soifua
